TBW Social Justice Committee Meeting

  • 23 Sep 2014
  • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Johnson County Central Library - 87th Street

Due to some scheduling conflicts and availability at the Central Library, the Social Justice group meeting time is now is the 4th Tuesday of the month, and our next meeting will be September 23. At that meeting, we will decide if the group should meet monthly, every other month, or quarterly.

Please join us at the Central Library on 87th Street in Lenexa, and everyone is most welcome to join St. Andrew Christian Church adult education for the social justice series starting Sept 21.

On Sept 21, Dawn Olney is organizing a presentation for her church on Income Disparity.  Judy Ancel, UMKC professor and director of the Institute for Labor Studies, will be the speaker. We thought it might be of interest to all of you to hear what Dawn discovered from the presentation and to lead a discussion with us on the topic of the uber-rich who pay no taxes, and the minimum wage employees who work for them.

Vivian Gibbens is organizing this series of programs at the St. Andrew Christian Church in Olathe. The social justice presentation/discussions begin at 9:30 and end at 10:20 AM, Sept 21 - approximately Nov 23. Topics include as an incomplete list: white privilege, criminal justice, and voting rights. We are hoping Vivian can enlighten us on this social justice series at her church.
